I was looking at the OEM seal kit I have on hand and compared it to the picture of the kit offered by Corteco. Looks good to me. I even like the price.

ALright everyone I went for this one: LAND ROVER DISCO DEFENDER RC STEERING GEAR BOX SEAL KIT - eBay (item 300538286574 end time Apr-25-11 20:05:48 PDT)

I compared afew different ebay listings for this part (some more expensive than others) and I observed that they all had the same Manufacturer Part Number: STC2847. They guy just shipped it out so I should get in sometime this week.

Now without any prior direction or advice I managed to correctly remove the entire gearbox with arm from the frame. Cleaned it all out and got one of the covers off. Problem now is that the other covers require MASSIVE ******* tools in order to remove them. Im pretty stumped so Im going to bring the gearbox to Autozone today after work to see if they can help me identify the tools needed! Might have to rent the tools or in worse case- have DAP do the work ;s
Manufacturer Part Number: STC2847

I just replaced one of my steering boxes and the drop arm was a real PITA.
I ended up getting the OTC6497 (for Ford Super Duty) pitman arm puller. Even then I had to put a 4' pipe on the pitman arm, stand on it, and put my hi-lift handle on the breaker bar to get enough leverage on the puller.

I got it here:
OTC 6497 Front End - Puller

The two pin wrench you need should be available from an industrial supply house, like Graingers.

Assuming the two pin wrench is for removing the arm, I still need 2-3 other unique tools to remove all the outer covers. One area looks like it needs some kind a giant flat head with a rounded end. While another cover looks to have to different parts together: one requireing a hudge diamond shaped tool and the other needed some sort of a star shapped gripper??? No clue.

Well DAP does not rebuld gearboxes so if I cant get the right tools for the job asap than im screwed! Does anyone have a extra fully functional gearbox lying around? I have $200 I could put toward it and possibly sell some other stuff to get the difference.

Here are the tools you need (you might get by with substituting something):
LRT-57-006 - OTC Tools LRT-57-006 Steering Box Adjusting Screw
LRT-57-007 - OTC Tools LRT-57-007 Steering Box Locknut Spanner (this I'm pretty sure you could get something that would work from Grainger or the like.
LRT-57-019 - OTC Tools LRT-57-019 Seal Installation Tool (I expect you could get by with something else)

You could call PT Schram, Will Tillery, Roverdude or buy a rebuilt. Check your other post, i responded with info on where i got my rebuilt from at a decent price. It was around $300 + shipping ($30 which covered the return shipping for the core) and core charge ($160)...you send back your leaky box and you get the core charge back.

Slow your row, call these guys.
Repairable Cars | Used Car Auto Truck Parts | WWW.PartsByWeller.com
They are huge, they rebuild transmissions and steering boxes, in fact they have 2 separate buildings, one for truck/bulldozer/front end loader etc. transmissions and another for steering boxes.
I cannot remember which division it is, but call the main number and then ask for the number to their building on Gezon Parkway.
That is where they rebuild steering boxes.
