Default Disco 1 Won't Start

My 1996 Discovery won't start. I purchased a new brand battery. When I turn the key in the ignition, the instrument lights all come on and the A/C fan , radio, wipers, etc. all work but the vehicle will not turn over. Sometimes the hazard lights intermittently come on. I have been told that the alarm may need to be resent. When I try to use the remote to lock/unlock the vehicle nothing happens. I replaced the battery in the remote without any luck. Occasionally, I hear a clicking sound under the dash on the passenger side of the vehicle that sounds like a relay switch.
  1. Is the remote bad?
  2. Where is the interface located inside the vehicle that works with the remote?
  3. Can I bypass the alarm to get the vehicle started?
Any suggestions?

Thanks!

The starter doesn't engage is what you mean by "turn over"? That wouldn't be the AS10, it will allow starting but you'll not get very far, motor will cut out. Might want to check your starter connections, grounding be the one that usually effects the starter if there's allot of oil covering it. Trans to starter needs a clean surface to ground itself. Not sure about the remote, never had one nor cared to. There have been a couple of threads on the alarm circuit board being fried or internal corrosion. It would make the starter work but the engine wouldn't ignite. If you have a problem with the starter it can be replaced with a DII's, same starter. I bought one used from a bone yard, had very few miles on it and it went to the grave with my Disco. Engaging the alarm without a remote is by simply turning the drivers side door outside lock 3 times, lock, unlock. That should make the running lights flash (if there isn't a problem with the drivers door key switch). That should give you a couple of things to look at.

Thanks for the info. I'll check the started connections on the started and turning the drivers side door outside lock 3 times. I already checked the remove for corrosion and it looks OK. Where is the alarm circuit board located?

Thank you.

Up under the passenger side dash board, it’s a green plastic box. Easy to get to if you take out the cardboard glove box.
