No shame in a K5
My first REAL truck was a K5 and was amazing. Similar to you, it was necessary for where I lived at the time, and ultimately led me here - to the Discovery.
I also agree that I would not take my Disco rock climbing, but literally everything else I have driven to, I have gone up and over or through.
Certainly a lot more that 6" mud ruts to be sure, but I also understand your point.
Our "wheeling" or most "Off Road" trails here in the lower 48 are what you guys in Alaska call "Driveways".
Keep up the good work - and AMAZING pic's of your buddies Rover - looks like an awesome and capable vehicle.

At The Bad Lands in IN. This video is a prime example of taking the right line. I could not see anything. As soon as I had a spotter I made it up easily.
The videos of the s2000 were of my turboed s2000. God I miss that car. Ran a 10.2 in it.

I know that 100% stock Disco driving through the hood deep water in a parking lot is not big deal to some, but then again I dont think the owner of that truck has to try and compensate for a lack of something either.
And yes you can go around, it may not be the shortest or funnest route, but it can be done.
~100ft tall tree fell during a downdraft and blocked the trail, I had to reverse almost a mile before I could turn around and find a different path.
There is always a way.
