And yes you can go around, it may not be the shortest or funnest route, but it can be done.

~100ft tall tree fell during a downdraft and blocked the trail, I had to reverse almost a mile before I could turn around and find a different path.

There is always a way.
Like I said, Nice Disco, I love it. However I am telling you that in ALASKA sometimes there is NOT another way, I'm not joking here or stretching the truth. MOST times you can go around or find an alternate route, SOMETIMES you just cannot, believe that my friend. Anyway, tahts a big as# tree!!. Come on man, butt that bumper up and just push push push!.

I carry a machete', I had to clear some of that trail to get back there only to find it blocked by that tree.

Are you at a high elevation? If so, that decreases the compression due to thinner air. I went to school in idaho, and it was 4000 feet high or so, and the "regular" fuel was 85 octane, but here in arkansas it is 87.

90 octane is the highest in my Alaska town, and my house is about 100ft above sea level...Highest house is probably 1000ft.
