Default Discovery is in drive but registering Park

This issue has been going on for a little over a week now and it's quite agitating for me and I'm sure my Disco.

This has happened in a few different circumstances.
When I start my 2004 Disco the radio says 1 hour (but will turn on), the windows and sunroof are dead as well as my heat/ac controls. When I take the car from park to drive it registers on both the dash and at the shift that it is in park but then it will drive. It also does not sound very good when this happens very very loud and seems to running high and almost straining.

While I'm driving and the Disco is acting normally it will go into this "park/dead" mode.

I'm not sure if this could be an ignition or fuse issue. I brought it by my mechanic very quickly but of course when I drove it there the truck was acting normal. He said that he would need to see it when it is happening.
This seems to fix itself by turning it on and off but like I said it is now happening when I am driving it. I'm worried I could be doing damage to my beloved Discovery. Any ideas out there?

1. You are in the D1 section. Different setup.

2. The D2 has an electronic tranny, with a switch on the side of the tranny that is called the XYZ switch, it tells the computer where you have placed the selector. Id switch adjustment cable linkage is out of adjustment, or if switch is full of mud, it can do strange things.

3. The shop manual is called the RAVE, has all of it
