Driver's door lock and Brake Pads
holiday greetings all,
96 disco SD. So I can turn the key almost 180 - all loose inside. If I push down the lock from the outside, it comes back up.
With the doors closed, pushing down from inside locks all doors. Wondering if I should get just the latch repair spring set or if I need a new assembly?
Brakes - now squealing. Do I need pads AND rotors too? Any recommendations?
Also, are the caps absolutely necessary, or just aesthetic? Lugnuts may have to replaced....
Many thanks in advance.

Brakes squealing can simply be some foreign material (eg dust etc) on the rotor or pad. If you can determine which wheel, I’d try cleaning the rotor with some brake cleaner, or even sandpaper then brake cleaner.
Lug nuts are available in plain steel, I believe. Caps are simply cosmetic.
Rotors have a spec for minimum thickness (maybe stamped on the rotors), so measure them. I had two the PO machined down too thin, so replaced them. Not super expensive for basic rotors. Britannica Restoration video details how to deal with the rust/stuck situation (he loves anti-sieze).
