Default Drivers door stop

my 97 Disco 1 has a problem with the drivers door opening too far. the fender actually hits the door and leaves a mark. (rear edge of the fender) when the door swings all the way open, well past 90 degrees.

It looks like there is a strap that should stop it, but it looks to be collapsed ad allows the door to open further. Maybe it can be replaced?? I see 2 bolts on the door itself and maybe I can take it out to replace if Looks like maybe it gets mounted from inside the door itself? any one messed with these??

Hate to do damage to the door..

Take a look at one I have listed on eBay to get an idea of what it looks like. There are actually three bolts that secure it in the door. I think you may need to pull the window frame to get it out. I can't recall if I ever removed a door check with the frame still in.

From the pictures, I wold guess I lost the plastic pieces. Is this the same part fior the Disco as the Range rover?

part arrived today, but it is too hot out to put it in.I can see where the one on the truck is missing some pieces so it will have to be pulled apart, but not when it is 96 degrees outside!

Wow! I finally got around to fixing this. Put up with it since May(?) and it took hardly any time to replace the parts. the part attached to the door was broken in half. Not sure how that can happen but it did. Replacement part was installed in less than an hour and works great!! Today was odds and ends day and this was on the list to get done.
My thanks to Paul Grant for the replacement parts!!
