Driveshaft compatibility?
#2
The only NAS Range Rover Classics with a driveshaft (from the factory) that will work with an LT230 transfer case are the 1987 and 1988 models. They were equipped from the factory with the LT230.
All Classics from 1989 through 1995 were equipped with the Borg Warner transfer case which is not quite as long as the LT230. As a result the front driveshaft in Classics from 1989-1995 are too long for use with an LT230.
The only caveat being that over the last 10 years a fair number of Classic owners, faced with failing BW's opted to replace them with LT230's. So, check the shifter to make sure a swap wasn't done, in which case the front driveshaft would work in a DI.
