Engine dies occassionally upon start up?
Hey everyone,
For the last week when I go to start up my truck it will sometimes start, go to idle speed briefly and after a second it will stall or sometimes almost stalling but then recovering. When I go to restart it the second time it never has a problems, starts normally. Other then this it drives completely normal. Ideas?

first...both of you..you can try stepping on the gas pedal slightly ...1/4 to 1/2 throttle on the hot restart, that will give the engine a little more air>>if that works and it starts right up..then you likely have an over-fueling issue at hot or warm start up which may be caused by a faulty coolant temp sensor, leaking fuel injector(s),faulty fuel temp sensor, are the popular culprits.
if the throttle trick doesnt help...you should be checking your fuel pump presssure for starters.
annnnnnd..do you have any check engine codes? how old are the plugs and wires ?

No codes, less then 10k on the plugs and wires, I have the opposite problem of you two that if the truck is hot then it will start right up no problem, the longer mine sits the longer it has to crank to start, hesitates. I've also found that it helps if I let the key sit in position "II" and let the fuel pump prime it is less likely to stall or hesitate. So I think its a fuel pressure problem or air seeping into the fuel line while the truck sits. I will buy a fuel pressure gauge next

Bought the fuel pressure tester yesterday, only 23 psi at idle, so I went to the junkyard today and bought a pump motor out of a crashed rover with 111,000 miles got lucky and now I have 37psi at idle! Turns over instantly and strongly now. Very pleased. Now I can feel confident taking it down some trails next weekend

USED Fuel Pump = Confidence ??? Good Luck with that!
Now that you know what the problem is... Please get a new fuel pump, they're cheap as hell > https://www.lucky8llc.com/collection...-fuel-pump-kit
Wait isn't this the same Disco that had to be towed by the LEXUS?
