This has happened to me three mornings in a row. I will start my disco and the idle goes up for a few seconds then it dies. i start it again and it is fine for the day. It seems to only happen the first start of the day. Could it be an idle control valve issue?

May be the begining of a pump failure.
Next time you go for a cold start, turn the keyy to the run position 3 times and then try and start the engine, let me know if that changes anything.

Disco mike, I did what you said and it didnt seem to change things. I have noticed that on cold starts it is now going up and down for about ten seconds before comming to rest at normal RPM. Now the reason I was thinking it could be the idle control valve is because of the CEL 1313 a/c issue I am also having. And I remembered that the gentalman you had me call about this issue thought it could be the problem. Do you think they could be related?

 

i had the same problem with my idle and it was the idle air valve. i got a cheap napa part to fix it but i have a 94 disco. try cleaning the air valve with carb cleaner.

 

Your fault code, P1313 Misfire Catalyst Damage Fault Bank A , tells me you need to look at your plugs and wires, especially on the drivers side as well as cleaning the idle control. Your cat if starting to fail because of whatever is going on. How long has it been since you did plugs and wires, what octane gas are you running, are you loosing and coolant??
