This is cause vac advance does nothing at idle so no vac needed at idle

Might want to replace all vacuum lines on engine it is cheap, how are the pcv hoses on valve covers?
I put the hose in my mouth while the engine was running and revved the s#*t out of it, nothing.

I thought there was the most vac on it at idle then when you opened the throttle body it relieved that vac and advanced the timing. Not very knowledgeable on vac advance though.

All hoses are in pretty good shape really.

The 03 and 04 use the same as the 99 to 02, and they are even swappable with some Volkswagens. It is a pretty common part.

Well, in the interest of honesty and humility I'll leave mast last post up but I checked and yours is vastly different (for a 1995 Disco I). My bad. Sorry for the rabbit trail.

It's OK lol, I sort of checked into it and just by looking at it I was pretty sure it wasn't going to work.

Hope you get to feeling better

Well the box under the seat doesn't show any codes :sigh: It seems like I remember it didn't work years ago. Very frustrating to say the least.

I talked to Disco Mike last night and he didn't seem to think that's the issue but I'm ordering one today since I know it's bad. Iv'e been sick the last few days so I didn't get around to doing it. I might as well do it right now though.

Dont know if this helps, I have the 4.0 and I had the same issue with high idle and running like crap. The ECU was bad. It worked but the section that controls the idle had water damage. Check the pins on your ecu and if any show corrosion you might want to get that checked.
