Default Exact location to bolt transmission dip stick on Disco 2

I finally got hold of the tranny dip stick but not the pan from a Disco 1 to put on my Disco 2. My problem now is trying to find the exact bolt (hole) on the bell housing to mount the dip stick tube to it. I've looked from the top side and underneath and tried to measure it going to the tranny fill plug but I can't figure out where it should mount correctly.
From looking at this picture of the bell housing area, can you Disco 1 gurus please tell me where the dip stick mount bolt is located? I'm guessing somewhere around the starter area maybe?

Thanks in advance!

I was going to run out and look at my D1's for ya Juke, but stuff came up and I got distracted, thanks OverRover for the quick reply! I've found several D1's at the salvage yards and each time I find a giant hole punched into the pan which is sad as that is mod I'd love on my Kalahari or my 99 D2.

Speaking of the dipstick tube on a D1 my 95 had an interesting situation going on with it when I first bought it. Whenever you'd crank it and pop the hood to inspect stuff (after the engine repairs to Cylinder #5 and a full HG job and new lifters) I'd notice the dipstick for the transmission was sticking out of the tube maybe 5-10mm. I'd push it back in and it felt like it was bottoming out. I pulled it out and found in nearly bent in half maybe 1/2 an inch up the dipstick. Around that time a 92 RRC and a 98 D1 popped up at my local salvage yard. I grabbed both 4spd auto dipsticks and the RRC's was the older thicker style but looked like a NOS part as it was brand new. The dipstick I pulled out of the 98 looked like the one from my 95 D1 so I got home and pulled the 95's out only to find it nearly 1/2 an inch longer!!!!! (both units from the junk yard were the identical length). I was like WTH... No wonder it was bending nearly in half and it gave a false reading of full on the dipstick (trans shifted kinda hard into 3rd & 4th). I then went online and verified basically all 97-99 RRC/D1 and even the 97 D90 all had the same dipstick. The only thing I can think of is somewhere in the history of my 95 D1 or god help me from the factory someone installed a P38 dipstick into the 95 D1. I installed the replacement dipstick and basically the trans was 1qt low for who knows how long. The shifting got a little better, but the funny thing is if you dog that 95 and drive it like ya stole it 3rd and 4th shift excellent. Just cruising and you can fell it shift harder than usual. I checked the kick down and it was adjusted properly so I'm just gonna do another drain/fill after about 500 miles or so to get the fluid a bit cleaner (it was not black but it wasn't red either) and roll with it.

I never ever thought I'd be that guy that would prefer to own a 25 year old vehicle to say a 2020 Toyota 4Runner or maybe a Chevy Colorado ZR2, but I am. When I was growing up my dad absolutely loved his 78 Toyota Celica (had it brand new all the way to the early 90's). He had so many chances to get something new but he never did. As a kid I just thought he was being cheap or stubborn, but now at 43 I get it. They just don't make stuff with the same class as older models. Sure 25 years from now a 2020 Toyota 4Runner will seem like a classic 4x4, but progress does change stuff.

Guess that's one reason I fell in love with LR's from 48-04, their classic looks, and simplicity. Every time I jump into my 95 D1 I just smile ear to ear, I love the sound the door handle makes, the door when it closes, the key buzzer, the dings when placed into position II, and finally the roar of that Rover V8 as it comes to life. The dash in a D1/D2 never gets old to me and I love the layout. If I could I'd buy every single D1/D2 I could, but I think my wife would kill me. To my wife a LR is just a vehicle that goes from point A to B, but to me it's an experience from start to finish. I look forward to passing stainless steel tanker trucks so I can catch a reflection of myself, or a store front with glass windows. I NEVER did that with any other brand vehicle I owned.

Sorry to ramble on, but being quarantined has me on the PC more lol. God Bless everyone and Rover on!!!

LOL
Thanks @Best4x4 for the info on the longer vs. shorter dipstick. I'll have to check that after I install it.

Yeah it was definitely a first for me! I was like why are you constantly popping out?? Then when I pulled it I was like oh boy a bent dipstick.... Especially after just owning it for a few weeks! But it made sense once I figured it out and verified the dipstick length on the RRC/D1. I'm 99% sure it was just something an independent LR shop did. I found several things on that 95 that just amazed me. The piston on #5 with bolt impressions on it, all 3 rings in pieces, LF swivel assembly missing the small upper/lower roller bearings, and a few other things. Just shows even if your loaded with $$$$$$ and take your LR into be serviced the quality of the work just depends on the tech your LR gets & nothing beats doing the work yourself as you know it was done right the first time. The dipstick probably cracked at the handle, they ran out back to a misc parts pile and just saw a dipstick from a P38 and said ah that'll work and slapped it in vs comparing anything.

I had to break down and order something to tinker with on a LR. I ordered some type 74 LED bulbs for the dash/clock/HVAC control head on the D1, some Auxbeam Eagle LED headlight bulbs, and a new vacuum advance for the 95's dizzy. I'm looking out for the mailman like a 14 day quarantine person lol.
