exhaust flange bolt that connects pipe to the manifold snapped for me
I realize these pics are not your manifold, but your post did say it was flush with the hole, so we took it at its face value. Now if there is enough thread showing to get 2 nuts on it, that would be the proper way. I have also gotten a slightly larger nut and welded it to the stud stub sticking out, but the only way it would come out was heating the area around the stud to cherry red, and make sure you do not heat up the stud itself, otherwise it will just break where you got it almost to the melting point. Heating it up will expand the metal around the stud making it easier to unscrew. The manifold will expand faster than the stud.
yeah my bad, once i completely remove the y pipe i will have some space to work with. When the rest of the exhaust is installed the bolt is flush. not sure how much space I will have though.
I wish you luck either way, we had a bad leak, and we had 2 broken. If you have to double up on gaskets, get some of that copper spray sealer, it is very very sticky and should help sealing it.
