Fair Offer Price for a Disco 1 with some issues?
All,
I am looking at a 99' disco 1 with 159,000 miles on the clock. It has some door jam rust, but much less frame rust. I have been told that the ABS light is on (not given code) and that the lifters are ticking once the vehicle comes up to temperature. As expected, I have also been told there appear to be some oil leaks.
I am willing to do wrench on this, but do not have a ton of mechanical experience.
With that in mind, is there anything I should confirm when I go take a look at this that is not included in the stickied threads. I plan on bringing an OBDII scanner with me to see what codes it is throwing as well.
Its listed for 2995, but it was a trade in, and I expect I could offer below 1,500. Is this a hard pass? or is there a price where this could potentially be an OK deal?
Really appreciate any input.

Let me guess the dealer is one who doesn't sell new vehicles but second hand so they bought it at an auction dirt cheap and are asking a fools price for a ticking motor they couldn't fix....... hmmm. Sounds like a really good deal. Do you own a welder?
