Flickering headlamps 97 Disco
2.) possibly faulty switch/stalk. There's a write on how to replace the stalk w/o having to remove the steering wheel.
Thank you Coors.
Noticed this on my Disco when I first got it running. I was changing the belt and tried running the motor without the belt to see if it had any effect on the lights. They stopped flickering with the belt removed. I replaced the Alternator with a used one (cheaper price) just to be sure, and it now works fine, no flickering in the dash lights or headlights.
I want to do a biopsy on the alternator to see if it is a diode or the regulator and replace the bad part. Then I will have a spare since the replacement one I got has over 200K miles on it.

Try checking the connections at the alternator to make sure they are tight. Mine flickered and then I tightened the nuts on the back(specifically the smallest one) and the flicker went away.
Been trying to figure out the exact same issue for some time now. Mine does it occasional at best. New battery, alternator, and belt did nothing. Just ordered a new stalk & once in, I will let you know if it makes a difference.
