Don't be confused. It still has to vent one way or another. The cap allows air in/out. Check your lines to the charcoal canister.

I can't really find a cap that vents. All i keep finding are these ones that you push the button before you open it to vent out pressure. When I tell them to check by year make and model all i get are caps that don't vent. could you maybe send me a link to something that might work? I have gone to auto zone and napa. I would really like to figure this out because i want to buy other parts for the truck but keep putting them off until i fix this problem.

I have the Syant on mine and it works fine. It does have a healthy hiss.

Take a look at this thread:
https://landroverforums.com/forum/di...nt-hose-41987/

Lots of good pics and info on gas tank removal and hoses.

I got mine from either AB or RN. Do not remember which one. Look at Savannah's signature, he has Pauls number on it or go to the "For Sale" section, paul has some things listed.

He buys Rovers and disassembles and parts them out. As does Will Tillery at

The P38 pumps large third hose fitting is for the filler vent tube. I'd bet a dime to a dollar that your having issue with the purge valve which when open allows tank fumes into the plenum. Should get a DTC. I'll bet you have the non-vented "Pre" Vent Stant cap, there are two types of the "Pre" Vent cap. "Pre" vent means it will not allow pressure to blow fuel through the filler with a half turn to relieve pressure before the actual rubber sealing gasket raises. An always vented cap allows pressure to escape all of the time. Pre AEL systems do vent to atmosphere through the cap otherwise the tanks "suck in".
