Default Glass pac on a rover

Just some background, i picked this thing up with 187,800 mi for the 74 scout in my avatar. I still need to change the diff and tranny fluid. Man the oil in these things gets nasty after some douchbaggery. Tonight i found the exhaust manifold x2 bolts to be finger tight so i proceeded down the exhaust and also found the muffler to be less then adequate. Found a slightly used glass pac in the corner and figured what the hell. After some fab work the thing sounds surprisingly civil. Cleaned up the PS lines from the canister and that was that for the night. Tomorrow is drain the tranny time, not sure on the filter change though, the po overfilled it bye im guessing 2 quarts so im planning to take the pan off and fill her back up to the correct level at least twice to see if she's ok. Any input is greatly appreciated.

You need to remove the y-pipe and a cross member to drop the trans sump.

If it's a Disco 1(94-early99), the tranny has a allen head screw in the middle of the pan to drain the ATF. To remove the pan, you have to remove the exhaust y-pipe and a crossmember. Or at least remove the y-pipe to manifold nuts, dropping the y-pipe enough to remove and slide the crossmember forward. But that way is a tight fit.

Yeah i figured but all i see are 6 bolts to the exhaust manifolds and 2 to the glass pac so....not to bad. I generally do what i can in a night since im always broke. Tomorrow i will have the cash for the tranny fluid.
