Yep that's the one. He told me he used to do 90-100 the whole way to LA. I bought a bunch of stuff from him. He still has the bumper I'd like. But it's seriously enormous.

 

You could do what this guy did. Haha. Now it's extra 'Murican.

6.2 DIESEL CLASSIC RANGE ROVER:

 

I ordered a new GM style radiator . Only $62 online! The one I ordered has EOC & TOC fittings and is used on their 1500/2500 series trucks. Measures 28x17(core) and has a total measurement of 34x19.5. This will clear under the hood. I'm pulling the bottom mounts off the old rad and fitting them on to the new one along with the top mounts. I'll post pics of the fitting/mounting process once it gets here.

 

Cut off the top and bottom radiator brackets on the old radiator. I used a die grinder to zip off the rivet heads for the top bracket and cut the bottom bracket off at the dip before the rivets. I used my torch to heat up/melt the solder on the side brackets attached to the rad tanks. New rad should be here Wednesday.

 

New rad got here today. That was quick! Not getting much work done till after Thanksgiving but initial assessment looks great and test fitting was very good. Fan shroud fits perfectly. I mean effing perfect. The stock brackets off the oem rad are wider than needed but luckily I'm surgical with the cut-off wheel... No rinky dinky zip ties or bent steel straps. This is going to be mounted like the stock radiator. Measures exactly 34 inches wide (exact fit) and 20.25 inches tall at the cap. I have 21.5 inches of clearance to work with. Top and bottom of new rad have about 3/4 inches of over hang which is perfect for mounting the brackets. Gonna mock the old shyt rad back in place to see how much room I need between the rad and condenser before I attach the brackets permanently. So far so good!

Got some work done on my Disco. Finished a customers bike sooner than I thought (own operate a Harley shop on the side). Got the rad mocked up with a new cap and had clearance issues as the cap adds another inch to the total height. Nothing a BFH and some muscle couldn't fix. Worked the rad support into shape until I got the clearance I needed. Used a 2x2 piece of square tubing to do the banging along the frame rails and radiator support. Fits beautifully. About an inch space between the rad and condenser. More than enough room for good air flow. I used the cut off wheel to add another slot on each end of the upper radiator bracket then chopped one inch off of one end to be able to fit in between the tanks on the actual core. This will get screwed/riveted to the rad core (has 3/4 - 1 inch lip). This will enable me to use the oem shroud and also space the fan shroud where it needs to be for max air flow (where it would sit with the stock rad). As for the lower mounts, I cut off the two nipples from the lower bracket that go in the radiator support on the frame (the holes with grommets). I will drill holes thru both and rivet or bolt them to the core(lip). The side mounts will either be epoxied to the plastic tanks or I will weld a small piece of metal to them (L shaped) so it stops rad from moving towards the engine. Will put a rubber hose over that piece so it doesn't gouge the tanks. So far so good.

I got the radiator on eBay for $62. No part #... It's for 1988-1997 GM applications, 4.3L - 5.7L engines, 1500-3500 series trucks and suv's. My local salvage wanted $75 for a used one... Pssshhhh! These are dime a dozen on Craigslist and salvage yards. I like the fact that they have a built in drain valve/tube. I'm gonna attach a hose to it to make it easier/less messy with coolant flushes.
