Default The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly

Well I finally got around to doing a mini inspection on the 96 disco that I picked up from my father-in-law.
Here's what I found.

*Driver's side door lock does not work with the key; you can still manually lock and unlock from inside and it still activates all of the other locks.
Can I just switch out the lock cylinder from the passenger side door?
*Dent in front quarter panel right where the edge of the turn signal indicator is(on both sides); no big deal.
*Passenger side turn signal lens broken.
*Passenger side, rear bumper, amber lens broken.
*Rear muffler(resonator?) rusted almost completely through, flaking apart. Rest of exhaust is extremely rusty but no holes.
*Cracked windshield.
*Half of the hood release is broken off, very hard to pull release.
*Exterior window seals all dry-rotted, missing in some spots.
*Leaking oil, a lot, it looks like its from either the valve cover gasket or possibly even the oil filler cap or neck(is that even possible?)
*Headliner is falling down in the cargo area.
*Cruise control doesn't work, supposedly just a vacuum hose.
*Tires are about 75% worn
*Lights on the dash are on all the time-SRS, Anti-Lock, Service Engine.
I tried to get the codes but the guy at autozone hooked up his ODB II scanner and said that his scanner wont pick up the codes for the systems that are lit up on the dash. Do I need to take it to Land Rover for those?
*185,000 miles
*Sunroof doesn't work, at least I assume that's what the rocker switch with the arrows on it up by the roof is for.
*Wanders back and forth on the highway.

It's not all bad though
*Heavy duty brush guard with Superwinch x9(winch doesnt freespool though)
*Full Rhino Gear skid plates.
*A/C works; mostly, it blows cold for several minutes, then starts to get warm, kicks off for 5 seconds then comes back on cold again.
*Radio works, sounds pretty good. CD changer but who listens to cds anymore.
*Comes with a CB(antenna is broken off)
*Manual transmission.
*Engine actually sounds like it runs really well, nice and quiet; alternator is a bit noisy though.
*Paint is in good shape.
*The shocks say "old man emu", or at least the ones in front inside the coil spring do, havent looked at the back.

That's about all I can think of for now.

Yes you can swap key holes, but it might just be a broken rod, open the door to see.
Sunroofs, as long as they are closed let sleeping dogs lie.
You can buy a whole new OEM exhaust from Atlantic British for $250 shipped.
Or you can go to the local muffler shop and have one custom made.
You can buy a new hood release.
Need new window seals.
8mm 12 point socket to tighten the valve cover bolts.
The red service engine soon light will not give you a code, it is a pre-programmed service reminder, discoweb.org -- has a write up on how to turn it off in their tech section.
Wandering on the highway can be the tires, or worn out ball joints, oversized tires can cause this too.
Recharge the a/c and make sure the electric fans are working infront of the radiator.

Not to bad overall from the sounds of it.

Lube release at release cable under hood and inside truck, or you could be stuck with a broken one that is dang hard to open.
