Good bye for a few months guys!
Congrats and thank you for serving. I've always wanted to be in the Air Force or Marines but a slight medical issue prevented it. Some medications I took in the past apparently disqualified me from service. Claire will still be here when you get back!
Well people can think whatever, I'm just doing what I need to do. The only people I would be concerned with their opinion is my superiors. If I went straight through my 3 or 4 years I would be rusty in my academic skills (Calculus and Physics etc) and would be at a disadvantage and need to take remedial classes to catch up. Why do that when I can go to school and do my service, then (for the reserve haters) put in my "real service"
Just remember, the recruiters job is to get you to sign the dotted line. Which you did.
They will tell you anything and promise you everything.
Nothing wrong with what you did. Just be aware when you are in boot camp, the less the other guys know about such things, the less flak you will catch. Whether you are in for 4 straight or a reserve program, you are still serving your country, and I still congratulate you.
Best Wishes to you. And keep in mind, many valuable lessons in life are not limited to the classroom.

Congrats, Great program, my Son just signed up for the same program. He reports on the 16th of July to Mira Mar in San Diego. He will be an MP down there. You may even run into him at Pendleton at some point.
I don't usually chime in on stuff like this but I do have over 24 years of active duty service. I have had two tours in Iraq, spent over two years in Afganistan, and many other deployments..... I have never asked any of my fellow service members what their service components are, i.e Reserve or Active... it just doesn't matter... we are a "family" that takes care of each other, no matter the service commitment. I have been enliseted, warrent officer, and commissioned officer... so I have been "up through the ranks".... It just doesn't matter. Again, it has been a honor to serve with EVERY man and women that I have met while deployed. I want to thank you for signing up to serve.. it is not an easy choice to make.... be safe and good luck.... cheers, Brent
......Now lets talk about rovers... i'm just sayin.....
Thanks to everybody! And yeah come on Rover here and help me fix my CDL stuff! I offer BBQ, Beer if you buy
, and of course some places to off-road once we get this worked out. Think about it!
