700 bucks? holy crap! I've done 2 of them so far, both with dual sunroofs. Takes about 15 minutes to take out the headliner, another 60 seconds to remove the old material. Get yourself a good stiff brush and get that old crappy "foam" off (I actually used a pressure washer on the second one) takes 10 min.

I ran the second one over to a local upholstery shop and they ordered the new material and did the recovering for 100 bucks total.

Another 10 minutes to reinstall.

Who ever quoted you 700 bucks needs to be flogged.

This thread is kind of like the Seinfield Show, based on nothing.

Back from the shop, new headliner is in and it looks great. There was no evidence of leaks or rust anywhere, and sunroof drains look good as well. I took the opportunity to pull out the auto dim rear view mirror harness so I can replace my mirror which has failed. Turns out the pigtail is bolted to the roof up under the front part of the liner pan, so the headliner has to come out at least part way to get it out, unless you take a shortcut and just cut and splice the wires instead.

Perhaps we'll go the paint route next time. Or maybe Rhino Liner.....

I LOVE it, they had to order it from the dealer who had to order it from who knows where, it took 2 weeks to come in.
Insurance paid for the repair because the glass shop that replaced my windshield knocked it down, they used compressed air to clean up the window frame and the air got under the covering and down it came.
Then the brand new windshield they installed cracked top to bottom less than a week later.
Different glass shop and then a trip to the body shop and they insurance company cut me a check.
I could have cashed it and ran but I prefer to have a nice looking truck.

Still trying to figure out what the other 962 bucks was spent on? Crazy. BTW, thats 62 bucks more than I paid for my entire 96...

Wait, you realize it would be cheaper than 1000 bucks to just line the entire headliner in 5 dollar bills... now that would say bling right there.

Yeah and when you need a few bucks just peel one or two off at a time.
