Last night my fan switch (inside the truck) went crazy. I think it melted and I need a replacement. Can't seem to find one on any of the sites I check and I have been told that the rear ac/heat controls are the same switch. Anybody know where they can be picked up?? Thought I had a spare but of course I can't find it. Getting cold on the drive home at midnight... Good thing I have heated seats!!
My switch has been bad since I bought the Disco, but it was progressively getting worse. The only switch position that worked was high and that only worked intermittently. It would often malfunction and you could hear the relay in the passenger footwell clicking on and off rapidly. I received a replacement from Logan and installed it yesterday. It works perfectly and I now have 4 fan speeds instead of just one. Tearing the dash apart and getting the switch out of the housing was a royal pain, but it was totally worth the hassle.
The attached pic shows how the switch connector had overheated. The housing the switch fits into was also warped due to heat.
Jim, thanks for the post. You may have saved me from a switch meltdown or a potential fire.
I honestly don't know what I'd do without the support from this forum.
My first Disco melted the switch and I tried using some jumper wires to bypass it until I could locate a switch. They melted rather quickly and I ended up doubling up some heavier wire to keep it working. It still got warm. Guess that is why they use a 50 amp fuse on the circuit.
