Help! Best option?
Hey guys,
After the heater core question last week. I’ve decided I should replace it anyways. But I have another annoying trouble. The mounts for the radio bezel broke when I was putting the radio or “dash console bezel” in. So now the only thing holding my entire dash bezel is two teeny screws. The other holes lined up but not quite enough to snug anything and when they did the bezel seemed to crack with any tightening at all.
so now I wonder if since I have no working radio, the dash bezel holder ( from the back of the bezel to the dash ) blew out and left a hole in the back of my dash, AND one of my new blend door cables is hung on something, if I shouldn’t just rip the dash out again, and try to replace it with one that’s not broken.
There are no D1s close to me, and I can’t get Mr.Tillery to respond to me on Facebook. I have my friends buy parts from him all the time and I Venmo them. He just quit responding after I tried to haggle with him a bit for some more expensive items. So anyone have any ideas? Is there a way to fix the blown out dash and not have to replace it? Will two screws hold the entire radio and bezel without busting it if being used for serious off roading? If it’ll hold I won’t replace it anyways.
Im referring to the mount that goes from the back of the bezel to the inside of the dash plastic. It broke and took a good chunk of the back of my dash ( firewall side ) with it.
Any ideas on a fix or repair, or how to get a replacement would be great. We’re in the home stretch here and all I need is a good solid dash and to sort this blend door cable out and a new radio wired up and I’ll have full functionality.
Thanks in Advance guys, yall are the best!

A couple of methods I've seen videos of are... 1)dissolve legos in acetone 2)super glue and baking soda 3) JB Weld
As far as replacement, you can use the facia from a D1 or a DII. Same part number AWR1383PUY
Also...check car-part.com there does seem to be some availability

i may have to try to fix it when I get the dash back out. I think that will be the very last thing I do. If I’m being honest.
I bought a hot staple gun and plastic welding kit from amazon a few months back. Yeah… not professional grade, only $50 for the kit and likely made in china. But boy… that thing has been super helpful with interior trim repairs on the old Euro stuff I have. If you’re willing to spend a bit of time…. Might be worth looking into.
