Help with Missfires
I thought I'd take a look at mine. I pulled the cover off, and disconnected the connector. I inspected it, and found the black plastic tubing was very brittle. It just crumbled off. The insulation on the wiring was intact, but also very brittle. Just inspecting it, a piece broke off one wire. It wasn't to the point where it was going to short, but well worth the effort for PM.
I wrapped the wires separately in electrical tape, and then again together. I installed a length of new corrugated black tubing. My heat shield was also deteriorating. I cleaned it a little and recovered the loose fiberglass with some 1-minute epoxy. After it cured, I painted it with silver engine paint.
I had all that stuff on hand, but it would probably benefit from some additional heat shielding product. There's a variety of wire sleeves, and adhesive-backed materials. I think I'll be ok for a while, but if I ever replace the CKP sensor itself, I'd plan on upgrading the wires and heat shielding more.

I would agree with the above on a more permanent fix. I used heat shrink, electrical tape, and used mini zip ties over the tape. It looks as though the PO may have tried tape in the past, either way it was very brittle. Looking back, my first encounter with this issue was when I hauled *** through a smallish puddle and it ran rough for a few minutes. Having said all of this, I'm still glad I replaced my coils, wires and plugs. My concern now is with my injector wiring looking equally as brittle.
