Default high pitched whine

Question for the group... My 98 disco has picked up a whine in the engine compartment on driver’s side. It changes pitch with acceleration, or under load. Once the engine is warm it doesn’t make noise at idle. Could this be the beginning of either the water pump or power steering pump going? Both currently work well.
Thoughts?

Update:
It has progressed from a whine to a very healthy scream. I did a lube test on each of the pulleys, a squirt of lithium grease on each at the bearings and listening for the pitch change. Outcome...my three month old alternator appears to have a bad bearing. I guess I will be pulling it again.
