Default Hood latch problems

has anybody else experienced problems with their hoodlatch? mines a 96 se7 here's the gist of it. its turned into a 2 man job, 1st man must stay in the cab area to pull the release, the second man must be stationed at the hood. 1st man pulls and holds it open as the second man closes the hood, it has to be all the way down then the 1st man can release the button and close the latch.

upon further inspection of the line attached to the release seems to be loose and the lock itself seems to be half opened.

it opened itself from some bumps in the road last night which has raised my concern because my hood could have completely popped loose while driving. does anyone have a suggestion on what to do to fix this lock.

Sounds like the hood release cable return spring is broke. and/or the cable is old and out of adjustment. Not a hard fix and should be in RAVE.

spring # 351991
Cable # ASR1405

You should be able to just grab the cable under the hood while standing at the grill and pull it to the driver-side. Fix it and then get some hood pins as well.
