Next project on the discovery is to get rid of the ratchet strap on the hood. I bought and installed a new hood latch and spring. Installed tonight and I still can’t get the hood to lock shut. I adjusted the spring and still haven’t had any success. Any ideas or tips on how to fix this issue?

Did you replace the cable also?

 

No I didn’t replace the cable. Could that possibly be the issue?

 

turns out the cable was stuck. Lubricated the cable and hood is latching properly

 

Glad it worked out. At some point, you can replace the cable. East to do and will last for many years.
