Default Missing part of the Hood Latch?

I think I've seen a small metal piece on the top of the hood latch for D1s. I think mine is missing that. In fact, the hood latch is difficult to release, even with a new latch, cable, and spring. I attached a picture of the hood latch on my '99. Can somebody confirm that I'm missing this part? Does it have a name or part number? If you have one, please let me know.
Thanks.

Rod's right, it's the striker plate and the part # is 350343. It's #13 on the diagram.

From my understanding, it's what pops the hood up when you pull on the cable. because my hood never did that. The way I have it now is just the cable attached to the latch, no spring. I have to pull on the cable, pop the hood myself, prop it up, then push the cable back in. If the spring is attached, there is no way to open the hood because it never pops up. Not complaining but it gets old on an old Land Rover .

When you close the hood the striker plate compresses the spring on the striker lock ( MWC6193 ) allowing the striker rod to pass through and engage the hood latch.
If the hood doesn't open properly AFTER you replace the striker plate remember to adjust the rod on the striker lock
.
