Default Hood Releasing,sort of...

Went out to do tune up and radiator flush only to find my hood wont open. The cable will pull and release, the hood will pop up some but not enough to free it from the latch. Any ideas on how to get it opened and what's catching will help.

Had this happen just pull up on the hood, the latch is in need of lube (probly)

Rover hood release cables are somewhat famous for seizing up if not lubed regularly. Hood pins are a maintenance free option.

Found the issue to be the safety catch. The cable and release are working fine. The catch is snagging on the opening where it goes into. It somehow got bent forward. Catching at the top of the arm on the pin that holds the spring.
