Default Horrible Death Wobble

I was driving 65mph today and thought my wheels were about to fall off when I hit a big bump. Hammering the throttle was the only thing that stopped the shaking or slowing to 50mph. I looked under the vehicle and the tie rod ends are completely deteriorated with no rubber left. Could this be causing the issue or do you think the problem is elsewhere? 1998 D1.

Its either the tie rods bad or panhard rod bushings shot or both.

I agree both of those are a great place to start, look at it this way, if one bushing is warn then probably more are too! I would check the radius arm bushings as well. A couple things to keep in mind, panhard rod and radius arm bushings need to be pressed out and in, so if you don't have a press you will need to find a shop that does. I found a machine shop locally that will swap them for $10 a bushing. Also I am sure you know this already, but expect an alignment after doing tie rod ends.

I would also like to mention making sure everything is tight, I had a good death wobble for a while and it actually loosened 3 bolts on my steering gear box (just a couple turns) and two lug nuts!
