Whats the general consensus on how long this will take to finish indoors with air tools?

I did this in about 3 hrs outside with basic tools. key part was using the floor jack to hold the tank in the proper place with the correct pressure to bolt everything back up by myself

Not to hijack the write-up, I just want to add my simple fix for this. I cut the tube where it was leaking from and used a metal cylinder fitting attached to a slightly bigger hose to make a ghetto tube. I got some new clamps, tightened it up and it hasn't leaked since. Not to discredit OP's write-up, but if it is really cold outside, or you really don't feel like dropping the tank, this may work. I'll upload some pictures when I get home.

Mine was cracked underneath the body behind the filler door, it was also ~32°F out at the time. I got a ¾" rad hose connector/splice piece from O'Reily's and cut out the cracked piece and spliced together. This worked for a couple of years as a temporary fix. Just an FYI. The rest of the rubber hose is now cracking and I think mine is cracking on the connection to the tank, just started leaking again on fill up this winter. Guess I'll be doing this with a new piece of hose and dropping the tank this time. Thanks to OP for the write up.

First post on this forum, since I came across this thread and I am having the exact same issue. However, it seems like the pictures are all broken links, does anyone have a copy or them, it would be greatly appreciated!

Also, did anyone buy the genuine hose? or will any hose do? Mine is a 96 D1

HOSE FUEL TANK VENT DISCOVERY NAS >96, ESR1056 - Rovers North - Classic Land Rover Parts

Thanks!

Hi,

I followed the instructions and worked on my 1997 Discovery 1 this weekend, but got stuck at Step 9 in removing the tank filler hose. I got the hose clamps loosen and was able to slide the big rubber hose off the fule tank filling nose, but found these another smaller tube inside the big rubber hose. It goes inside into the fuel tank and I wasn't able to pull it out.

Do you know what it is? and how should I do to remove it?

Thanks,

Probably the only solution for a "bush repair". But if the hose is cracked, the whole hose will have degraded and will crack again somewhere else along its length. It really does replacing eventually with a good quality hose, better than the original of course.

I used silicone tape to repair mine temporarily, and it worked well for a few weeks while I waited for an opportunity to do the repair.

By the way, what is the ID of the vent hose? Somebody mentioned 3/4" but didn't say if that was the OD or ID. Thanks.

I use a Gates 3/4 Fuel Injection line by the foot from Oreilly's Auto Parts. It is a reinforced line vs that OEM line or the awful aftermarket lines.
