How much did you pay for your Disco?
Well today was the day! After looking for this past year or so I finally came across a 1996 Discovery SD. 5 speed, no leather, no wood, no sunroofs, manual seats... It was perfect! But it sold a week later and thought It would be a long time before I found another. Well a couple days later and a trip from Florida to Pennsylvania I found another!
120,000 miles, body is in really good shape but roof is fading a bit, drives really great. Check engine light, and SRS light is on. Rust through in the door jam areas and a little bit of rust underneath. Got it for $3200 and am very very happy! The interior is in pretty good shape too but has some sag in the headliner.

Thanks Terry
Curious .. I have an 88' RRC in not so great shap - but amazing "California clean" zero rust.. and want more power they share a lot of suspension etc... will probably make a FrankenVehicle out of it anyway (all stock now) .. so my question is, are you going to sell Old Rusty or do you want a RRC? -- Always wanted a D1
Thanks Terry
Thanks Terry
After reading all these posts I don't feel too bad about spending $700 for my 98 LE to save it from the crusher.
So far I've spent another $300 in fluids and parts (not counting a zero deductable windshield replacement) and I still need a rearview mirror and better seat switches, but the body is decent and it has rear jump seats and a step.
OK, so the sunroofs need work (but they are now closed and don't leak so I can live with that) and it shakes a little at 60 MPH and smells of hot oil, but it is a nice little British truck and the radio sounds pretty good.

We paid $1600 all in for our '96 SE7 with 117k in late October of 2013
The good:
Almost new tires
Straight body
Nice interior
Trans and motor ran like new
The bad:
Exhaust leak (manifold to Y)
Brakes?
Bad T case
Small rip in driver's seat
Left rear window lift broken
Interior rear view mirror cloud
Inoperative cruise
A replacement T case (thanks Paul Grant), exhaust gasket, new front pads and a DII rear view mirror, plus new cruise module/pump/lines, and it now has 140k plus on it. Generally gets driven 140 miles/day during the winter (Nov - April).
