How much did you pay for your Disco?
Sweet. Mine are junk.. Duck tape residue all over them but they work. Gonna make some tricked out plates now. Lol.
Got my Disco off a buddies used car lot in Oct 2014. He got it at auction in Mar 2014 and his mechanic couldn't fix the overheating issue under load. Sat at the back of his lot since then... Went to check out a Harley he wants me to restore and saw it. Always like them and not a jeep fan. Needed a camping, shootin and tow rig (harleys ). Worked out a deal with him, an old 12 gauge side by side of mine he's been wanting and some simple harley work. Few hundred bucks later I have a capable and great running rig for what I wanted it for. Fun..

I paid $1200 for my 1996 SE7 in about 2009.
I paid $6500ish depending on how I personally valued the trade-in for my 2003 S in 2010. Stupidest rover purchase ever, as far as the price I paid.
I paid $2000 for my 1999, I don't recall what year I bought it.

So I picked up my first Rover (Disco II, 2002) paid $2700 all in for an '02 SD with 152K in late October of 2014
The good:
Straight body
Min rust
Nice interior
Trans and motor ran well
The bad:
3 Amigos
Saggy headliner
Small rip in driver's seat
Small coolant leak (upper intake manifold?)
Small oil leak (front cover)
Small trans leak
Replacement front drive shaft, on day one. Generally gets driven every day, I have put on 2500 mi since I purchased. There are still some issue to work out, but a wonderful vehicle overall.

I used split vacuum hose and layers of gorilla tape to build up the bottom edge of the openings to wedge in the plates which were both missing lower tabs. I guess the broken tabs are common. At least both seats go back and forth and the driver's seat tilt usually works so I can live with that for awhile longer.
Yeah, not much you can do if the stud is broken, but it its just missing the ****, you can get those:

I wish it was that easy. One of my switches has the little back adjust stud broken off, the passenger raise/lower doesn't work (might be the motor, though) and both sides are missing the little seat back lever, but I managed to get the seat backs in useable position using tiny needle nose pliers to move the switch slides.
