Question how to tell which Oyxgen sensor is bad? P1187

so a while ago i got this code: P1187, Oxygen Sensor Heater Circuit Short Upstream i realized (with the help of y'all) that i needed to change the oxygen sensor. i know its one of the front 2 before the catalic converter(up stream) but how do i tell specifically which one it is (Driver or passenger side bank1 or bank2)??
i called my mechanic he said he would have to call a technician to look at it for 90$
he suggested replacing both or flipping a coin and resetting the check engine light but i wouldnt be able drive it long enough to know if i replaced the right sensor
any suggestions?
all help is greatly appreciated

The front O2's are cheap form Amazon.com, just order the front 2 and be done with it.
$100 for the pair.

I agree, especially when you look how old your truck is, if you don't go in sets, your engine's air/fuel ratio will not be the best.

Mine were 42 something each a few weeks ago. Got a couple bucks off on some random sale I didn't know was happening until my checkout. I suppose it could have been a mistake, but for about 90.00 shipped, I love it! Amazon is great sometimes.

Sorry for the hijack...
