Thumbs up

Well.... nobody's offering any new ideas. I don't blame you guys. I wanted to walk away too but i stuck with it and pulled the new crank sensor back off, cleaned the terminals, re-inspected the wiring and reluctantly put it back on the rig. I don't know why, but THIS time it worked. The rig runs good again even after warm up.
I'm thinking maybe the wire connection was wet from the 'water test'. I dunno but glad to be back on the road.

For future info: My 98 sensor was held on by two 7mm bolts. One on the top which also holds the heat shield on- and the second on the bottom which is pretty much accessible only after the heat shield is removed.

Had I not read a tutorial first, it would have been much harder to take off because the thing is in a place where a guy can't really see the bolt head to determine the size. I have read a couple tutorials that say there are 7mm AND 8mm bolts but mine just had the 7mm.

Thanks

I am having this same issue today.

I have code P0340 and even though its a cam sensor, every post I have read on multiple forums, the solution, points to changing the CRANK sensor. A few point to the wiring, but I have just about a spare everything so I will get out my spare and try it.

shanechevelle-
It sounds crazy, but try the water test on the CRANK sensor. Mine was just visible through the drivers front wheel well. I was able to direct the garden hose directly on it while the engine was running. It only took about a minute before the engine was able to accelerate normally. It seems a little nuts to be shooting cold water at a sensor that has wiring to it but hell! it worked for me.
Good luck.

Mine is a D2...But, if you turn a can of air upside down, it lets out the chemical which then hits the air and is below zero... I'm not using water, I am going to try a can of air.
