Default I got me an engine!

Well what better way to spend New Years Eve than driving two hours one way to get an engine. After some cleaning and a trip to the machine shop it will get built up and put in the truck.

I think $200 cash for a 132k mile running engine was a good deal...

I have been thinking of doing the same thing. What are the parts cost to rebuild one?

it came out of a wrecked truck? at that mileage i would be worried it was overheated unless the truck was visually damaged.

You made out like a bandit, I got a 149K engine out of a 1990 Range Rover and that= 8.13:1 compression. I have to wind it up before it makes any power.

As least it runs good.

As much as you want/can spend. All depends on how good a rebuild, how much wear and how much power you may want above stock numbers.
Should plan on at least a complete engine reseal kit, timing chain set, oil pump kit, valve train parts and any possible head work along with all new fluids.

I am looking for real numbers on a regular stock rebuild, vs. putting a different engine in. I have seen some pretty good deals on full american engine swaps with wiring and ECU Attached.

I tend to be a naturalist in wanting to put like for like in a vehicle tho.
