If its in the red arrows then it would be just a gasket. I was thinking you had a crack in the front cover.

Before you do anything try tightening the waterpump bolts (the longer ones directly in front of your leak). I've had two D1's that started to seep from that area and upon further inspection I could have removed those bolts by hand. I tightened them up and the leaks went away.

Yeah Best4x4, when I first saw the leak that's what I tried. No dice! Rover gods have let me go too long without having to dismantle something greasy I guess.

By the way, my serp belt spins both directions when I wrench the fan nut. So... I guess I have to go find one of those fan pulley wrench holding devices, eh? I've tried to cram all sorts of things ( heh heh ) in there to hold it with no luck.

Also, would love any tips on making sure I don't completely expletive my timing when I replace gears and chain.

Give the wrench a smack with a mallet or something, steady pressure will just spin the belt. Just be careful because it's easy to break fan shroud parts.

Darn it that sucks!

Yeah get a 36MM wrench and tap it with a hammer at a downward angle a few times (you wanna hit more downward to prevent it the pulley from trying to rotate), and normally after 3-5 hits it should break free.

I got it! Was able to get my big screwdriver lodged well enough on one of the bolt heads to hold it still. Didn't take too much torque after that to get her spinning.

Fan and belt are off. Waiting on a couple gaskets to come so I can start ripping it apart. I'm gonna check my timing gears/chain first before I order that stuff.

Ha ha.. I can't keep him away from tools. If only he'd put them back where he found them when he's done.

My daughter is just like that!!! She helps whenever she can and she loves to sort and put my tools away afterwards.
