I know this sounds stupid, but how do you change a tire?
Nope. That's the beauty of an impact. It's nice for changing wheels. But it is AWESOME for unbolting the brake rotors from the hubs.
What is AG?
Why don't you mount the other set before you go (assuming you are talking about two complete set of tires already mounted on rims, or are you changing the street tires to muds on one set of rims?
I bought one of the 4 way lugs wrenches, it is great leverage to hand tighten or loosen. I also put a dab of anti-sieze on the stud threads.
LR does call out a specified torque, but I use the Guttentight Method. Always break them loose with the wheel sitting on the ground, jack the one side up, no real need for a jack stand just to remove and replace a wheel.
Of course it is sitting on a stable surface and I do not get under it. If I am doing something other than merely changing one for another, I do use jack stands.
I have the solid lug nuts. I bought a set of twenty from a salvage yard on the West Coast for 90 bucks shipped from California to Pittsburgh. No more deformed chrome covers for me.

On my truck I carry a 18" breaker bar, along with a 1 foot and three foot section of black pipe to use as cheater bars. Or beat-down sticks, LOL.
I highly recommend the solid lug nuts, though. A great investment regardless of price.
You made out like a bandit at that price. I know LR wanted twenty each for the capped ones and did not even offer the solids. I had first order a set of the capped ones from that salvage yard and they sent me the ones for a DII which are smaller.
That was before I found out about the solid ones. I called them and raised hell, they sent a set of capped ones for the DI, but several of them were damaged to some degree, I called them again and asked about the solids, so the third set was the solids. I don't know if they would have been cheaper if i asked for hem initially or not, but they sent me three different sets for my initial 90 bucks. Glad to have the solid ones finally.

- Chock a wheel you're not changing.
- Put the gearbox in neutral and let it roll in to the chock.
- Lock the center diff.
- Set the parking brake.
- Loosen the lug nuts on the wheel you're changing about 1/2 turn (if using an impact gun this can be done after jacking the axle up)
- Jack axle so the wheel is about 3/4" off the ground
- Remove the lug nuts.
- Pull the wheel off
- Coat the wheel studs with Never Seez
- Install the new wheel.
- Start the lugs nuts by hand.
- Run them down snug with the wrench, alternating in a star pattern across the wheel (if using an impact gun set it to it's lowest setting)
- Torque them to 100 lbft using the star pattern again
If you're paranoid you can use a jack stand, but I never do when changing one wheel at a time.

I had a guy try to take my wheels of my disco. He was struggling like crazy (watching from inside) I called the police and they arrested him. He was so pissed that he couldn't get them off. Of course me laughing and pointing pissed him off more. He also tried to run so I was able to watch the cops take his a$$ down!
