Just spoke with the Land Rover service center in Oklahoma city. After explaining everything to them, they said most likely this condition stems back to the original O2 sensor that was bad. I had cut the wires and spliced in my spare. I had also done this to my other downstream. They said the )2's will usually not work after doing this. I guess this is why I still have 02 codes and misfires. They also said that the adaptive constants were for things like the idle speed and so on. They do not seem to think my idle speed is bad, instead they said change out all four 02's and see what happens. I also asked about ECU resets. The service people kind of laughed and said that there is no ECU reset. So I'll be getting my 02's soon to try this.

I found an Indy with actual Testbook software. Took it to him. He charged me 50 bucks flat. I stood there and watched him reset everything. I still needed to get a new TPS so he told me come back, no charge. And he did. Second reset was free. No more idle issues after new IACV/TPS and reset. Don't know why they told you there is no reset. I saw it with my own eyes.

I don't know about in Oklahoma but I know here in the NYC metropolitan area Land Rover dealers don't want to be bothered with these old Discos. Lets face it, they're selling and servicing all the LR3's and LR4's they can handle and making bank on that work. Why would they want to start tearing into 12-17 year old rust buckets.

I can't tell you how many stories I've heard of techs telling DI customers outright lies about what they could do with their trucks. Also, keep in mind that the majority of techs at a Land Rover dealership have extremely limited experience with these older Rovers. A thirty five year old tech was still in high school when the first DI was being sold.

I've not heard great reviews on them. It's an OBDII scanner that can read manufacture specific P code, it can reset ride height, real time data and is priced way too high to collect dust in my tool box. It a home use product, not a commercial use tool.

Well, I live 600 miles by airplane or barge from the closest testbook. At the cost of $1400 just for travel...It would be nice if I could reset my ecu myself. Do you have any experience with BlackBox-Solutions?(besides being VIN specific)

No personal experience, wouldn't hesitate to buy though. The Faultmate MSV-2 is the current replacement for the Rovacom but you'd have to talk to BBS about supporting a GEM's Disco since it's not listed. The P38 folks seem to love em, they have more issues than us......
