Interior swap - from D1 to D2. Questions...
I bought a '95 D1 that the interior is pretty roached out. Anyone her know what will fit and what won't? Thinking of buying a D2 donor vehicle for this purpose. I already have a set of front seats from a D2. D2 are more plentiful and likely to have better interior tha. The D1s. Thanks...
Maybe door panels, console but the seat switches are different size holes on the sides, iirc the front seats can be made to fit later d1 by modding tracks but not early d1 cause floor is way different
Headliner no , too long
Rear jump seat , no , different style
Rear cargo panels , no, d2 is longer
Think there was some debate over the doors
Headlights swap
Not sure on middle seat, but probly not
Probly best to find a junk d1

Just about any seats can be made to fit with enough welding/modification. None of the D2 seats are a bolt in swap to D1.
I just picked up some nice cloth Mazda Protege seats for $30 each at the junkyard.

I've got some D2 seats as part of the deal and I saw a nice write up with pics on what's required to make them work. Yes I suppose you could use a lot of different types actually. Carpet is the worst part and I'm expecting it to clean up some but still would like to find a nice set; for not much money of course! I should probably just find a donor with a bad engine - shouldn't be too difficult...
Hey guys, Old *** thread but I just thought I’d share that I’ve just completed an interior swap from a 2003 HSE D2 to 1996 300tdi D1 and that it is possible. Some extra drilling for seat holes is required and fabrication of brackets but the end result came out better than expected. If anyone cares haha
