Intermittent RPM/Power loss at speed
My speedo never showed the VSS was sending crazy signals. I connected an autel and watched the vss signal, it dropped to around 35mph when the engine was cutting out, then would start working again. I replaced the vss and it has worked fine ever since.
The speedo "filters" the signal so the dial won't bounce around erratically. Look at the MPH reading on the OBD to determine what the ECU is seeing.
The hex bolt which holds the VSS in place is in a weird area. Access is impeded by the parking brake cable. I forget what size it is (3/16 IIRC), but the main thing is to get a LONG hex driver. Like 6" or something like that. The job will be MUCH easier.

Gentlemen.... seriously I cannot thank you all enough. It goes to show that no matter how much experience you have there's always more to learn.
It was the VSS failing. I honestly thought w out the erratic speedometer it was a definite no VSS issue. Well I was dead wrong. I swapped it out w one from my parts stash and a 100 miles later it's still going good. That was definitely it. I'm still going to buy a new part and swap it if necessary.
Thanks again
