Unhappy key problem

I got a 1998 land rover and it has a problem with the key.
it wont come out of the ignition unless the car battery is diconnected or dead. i know there's a switch that you could turn off or something and itl work just fine but i dnt know where its located or if thats the problem..
anybody knows what i can do???

Try popping off the wood trim piece on the shifter and tightning the cable up, its probably loose and the sensor still thinks its in gear.

On my D1, I would just push up harder on the shifter and the key would come out. When I pulled that cap off, there was no cable adjustment... I think the cable attached with a clip or something. There was a big nut the held the handle on. If you tighten it too much, the then button no longer moves smoothly.

That "big nut" is what comes loose and is what needs to be tight - not OVER tight.
I have the D1 as well, and experience the same issue. You need to slide the retaining clip off to get a socket on it, but once tightened, you will be good to go.
