I have had some problems with my throttle cable right at the bracket by the throttle body as well. It was a bit loose, I wasn't familar with it, one day it hung up and the engine went wide open for a few seconds before I could shut it off. Quite a scare for a moment. The other day, it was loose again and it would go dead as I slowed down to stop at traffic lights and stop signs. I tightened it a little too much, revs were a bit high, backed it off a bit and it idles smoothly now.

Hope you get it straightened out. I have been keeping a close eye on it lately.
