Default Light switch problem!!

When I try to turn on the headlights, only the headlights turn on and the dash and rear lights are off. I have to slightly turn the switch back for all the lights to turn on. Is there a problem with the switch itself or what??

sounds like it. I mean if all the lights will work simultaneously, I wouldn't think it's a wiring problem. sounds like the switch is the culprit.

Surely you jest sire.

A cheap LR part is a very rare creature not known to inhabit these parts frequently.

You can try spraying it down with something like CRC Contact Cleaner or even WD40.

I have seen some mention of partial disassembly and cleaning.

Or if you are a little adventourous, you could bypass the factory switch and install toggles.

I had this problem when I first bought my truck I wired in a relay and have never had a problem since. The relay is usually only a couple bucks if you get it at the right place. Basically you will just be using the headlights to trigger the relay to turn on all the other lights, I can help walk you through how to wire it up if you would like.

Also check the plug from the harness to the switch on the column itself. Sometimes the connection in the plug is loose (you'll see burns in the plug) and the small shortages will continue frying the blinker/headlight switch.

This has happened in at least 2 trucks I've seen. No dash or rear lights when headlights are on..
