Lights won't switch off – again
Hello there everybody, bare with me through this long post, please.
Changed my generator, since it burned. Was very happy for a few minutes since I never ever changed a generator before and I had no trouble, until ...
I discovered the lights will not switch off.
I have searched the forums but not really found anything I think fits my picture.
I have checked all fuses, main fuse box and the one under the steering wheel.
I have checked the main grounding.
It feels unlikely that it is the light switch that has siezed, as the problem came right away when I put the negative lead back on the battery.
I have put in a new battery.
I have changed an "automatic driving lights circuit" which is a circuit installed on all Swedish cars since it is required to run your driving lights at all times here. This is what the swedish Land Rover forums suggest has broken, a relay supposedly get stuck sometimes, but putting a new one in didn't help one bit.
Now the funny thing. When I disconect this "automatic driving lights circut" the lights do switch off (if I remember to switch them off, which I don't. Hence the new battery!)
BUT
Now, I have no light in the back except brake lights and blinkers?
Any idea as to where to go looking next would be greatly appreciated.

By no light in back do you refer to interior lights (controlled by Multi-Function Unit or MFU, which also does the lights-left-on-warning-chime), or to "running lights or tail lights"?
Also, where are you, as Canadian trucks have some extra parts, plus non-NAS ttrucks are also slightly different wiring?

We don't have any ALDC like you do, but the one time I did have a problem with the light circuit, the turn signal stalk had to be replaced to resolve my problem. When I went from the position for tail and instrument lights, they worked fine but when you continued to the headlight on position you lost dash and tail lights.
I would suggest it may be a switch issue.

Tried to clean the stalker electronics, didn't help.
As I wrote, it seems enlikley the dirt built up just enough to short circuit the switch the same moment i decided to change generator.
Back feed from the generator to ignition somehow? Could that be it?
By the way, I'm in Sweden. By lights in the back I mean tail lights and everything on the outside. Inside lights no problems, yet …

Here's wiring diagram for head lights and running lights. Several fuses involved. You may have more than one problem. But that stalk switch is in the middle of it all. One way to troubleshoot hard to get at switches is to use long wires for meter leads, and connect one at fuse (with fuse removed) and other at lamp socket. Sometimes meter long meter leads are not enough. If must remove switch, have to rotate steering wheel 90 degrees, no need to remove wheel and air bag, etc.
