JUST TO ADD A LIL INFO......
the other plastic plate / disc that is in pic is fine......
it is what cams over when key turns and pushes against the ring that BROKE.

and all other parts seem to be fine also.....???

guess the plastic just gave out????
never had any sticking or binding issues with the key in door lock.

THANKS AGAIN FELLAS!!!

Hello - I am new to the forum and new to Rover ownership. I have a 1999 Disco 1 with a 300TDI conversion.

I think I have exactly the same problem. I have not dug into the door to look at the mechanism, but last night my drivers door lock cylinder stopped working. The key just spins in the lock.

Hoping you/I find a solution....

contact a person that parts out dead trucks such as Paul Grant or Will Tillery and check Ebay. Not sure if you have "U-pull" car lots in your area but that would be another source.

JK, do you have a pick a part near you? Since you don't need the lock tumbler you could pull a handle assembly there. If not, Ebay. Buy used! I will have one available after the new years, but I imagine you want it fixed quick. You've done all the hard work of diagnosing and dismantling. I checked Ebay, too expensive, close to 80-90.

Paul Grant's info, PM him.
