Default Looking for answers

I have a 1997 Land Rover Discovery. My wife went out to start it and it started, but the AC, radio and electric windows did not work. We never had a problem like this before. When she put it in gear there was a loud high pitch sound. I was in the house and she yelled for me to come out. I looked at the engine and it seem to be running ok, so I told her to turn the engine off and after a couple minutes I had her start it back up. When it started, everything worked again, AC, radio and windows. It did not make any noise when she shifted it into gear either. Can someone try to answer what was going on here?? Thank copgib

Don't know about the high pitched sound when you put it into gear but the lack of power windows, radio and AC could be due to a bad battery connection. Check your connections, make sure they are clean and tight. If it's not making full contact, the issues you've described can occur.

In addition to battery connections take a look at your grounds both in the engine bay AND in the cabin behind the kick panels. Water intrusion can create corrosion and bad connectivity.
