Default Looking for reverse "trigger" wire under dash for back up camera

Hi all, first time poster here...just bought a 1996 disco 1 and am trying to install a new stereo with a backup camera. I'm looking for the reverse trigger wire so I can use it to let my head unit know when i'm in reverse. I believe it's the green with brown trace wire. It needs to be 0v when not in reverse and then 12v only when in reverse. The one I tapped into is in the driver's footwell but for some reason is giving 6v constantly when the power is on, regardless of if i''m in reverse or not. Is there a different wire or location I should have tapped into? Please see attached pic. Thanks!

On a D1 the rear-view mirror has 3 wires power, ground, and reverse you will need to add a 12-volt automotive relay since the wire is small but enough to power on a relay for your radio head unit backup input.

Thanks so much for your response! I just checked my mirror and the power wire is 11.75V (which is close enough to 12) but the reverse is only 10.5V. Any thoughts on that? I haven't had a chance yet to see if this will be enough to trigger my head unit to go into reverse mode yet but will try tomorrow.

It will work to trigger the radio, but it will not power a camera if you need it to power something just add a 12-volt automotive relay and you can run any aux or optional device just make sure to add a fuse if you run a relay.

I’m not totally sure how to add a relay but couldn’t I just use the stereo power to power the camera as well? It only needs power for the brief time I’m in revers. Thanks!

85- ground
86- tap reverse wire (trigger)
87- power to camera.

Thanks so much, I’ve never used one of these but seems like a great way to do it!
