Are you thinking about getting the Maxxis? My grandma lives in Wichita and I have a spare set of rims that are begging for some tear-me-up-mudders...

Those are pretty use-specific, as such, they'd be fine only on dry surfaces(within reasonable speeds) & mud.

Wet pavement wants the little sipe-cuts (my Sumitomo all terrains), snow likes a narrow tread with sharp cleats (the Michelin 4x4's on my RR)

As said, save your money unless you're changing wheels to off-road.

luck,greg

I have heard very mixed reviews on the GG AT2's
That is what led me to my tire choice.

As another strike, they look pretty beat up in those pictures, and I don't see any direction marks - keep in mind that unless the guy was meticulous in rotating the tires and keeping the alignment true those tires are cupped all to hell and will be LOUD. REALLY loud.

I'd also just like to also point out here that my local indy charges $20 for stem, mount, balance and disposal of old tires that size, so you would pay $80 to put on $40 tires, and then $80 more when you decide they are trash.

Personally, I found the BF Goodrich Tracker TA KO's to be exceptionally well rounded tire, 245 70 r16 and they seem to be on sale at tirerack.com. Had to adjust my stops a tiny bit, but they fit good stock. They clog a bit in the heaviest clay/mud, but kick *** in soupy stuff and drive buttery smooth on the highway to boot.

I passed on those tires. For my use, I guess I really don't need anything more than just some decent A/T's. Both of my cars are about due for new tires though, so it sure would nice to find a decent used set at a good price.

You can check with various tire dealers, they sometimes have sets that someone replaced as an upgrade without the tires being worn out. My son got a nice set of Pirelli Scorpions for his Surburban for right at 100 bucks. Also some of the large salvage places have good tires from wrecked cars. You have to look for a bargain, it won't come find you.
