Misfiring and knocking noise
Installed new rod and main bearings which raised the oil pressure and made it run a little bit quieter, but still the noise is there. Cylinder #3 has no compression. Is there a way that the rings might of burned out on just that single piston? How can this be fixed?
To fix a broken ring requires disassembling the engine, replacing the ring, and reassembling the engine while replacing the required gaskets. It may be a stuck valve though and there are likely more worn out components so it may need a complete rebuild.
How can I further check if its bad rings? Is it possible to replace the rings without honing the cylinder? What I mean is can I just pull the oil pan and pull out the piston from underneath?
I know its not my valve because I had them cleaned and I also removed the valve cover while spinning the engine to see if the lifters were stuck and everything seemed fine.

Looking at my engine rebuild pics I suppose it'd be possible to remove a connecting rod cap and push it and the piston out the top. First, with the heads off, I'd examine the valves further of course.
